Line upon line...

In the Book of Mormon, in 2 Nephi 28:30, it reads:"For behold, thus saith the Lord God: I will give unto the children of men line upon line, precept upon precept, here a little and there a little; and blessed are those who hearken unto my precepts, and lend an ear unto my counsel, for they shall learn wisdom; for unto him that receiveth I will give more; and from them that shall say,We have enough, from them shall be taken away even that which they have."

In Elder Packham's email this week, he spoke about growing line upon line.  It made me think of the scripture above. It also made me think about how the fundamental doctrines and principles of the gospel were not revealed to Joseph Smith in the Sacred Grove in a neatly organized binder. Rather they were revealed as circumstances warranted and as the timing was right.

I am confident that Elder Packham's growth will happen just like that on his mission - line upon line - as circumstances warrant and the timing is right. Oh happy day!

Here is his email:
February 26th

Alright well another Pday and another day down in the CCM. Things here are really good just different. Its weird having like every minute of your day planned out but kind of nice at the same time. I have been learning a lot about the gospel this week and seeing the blessings that pour out from being exactly obedient. To be honest, the language is kind of starting to get me down a bit.  I mean its not easy and its really hard. I learned alot about humility this week as well. Up until this time Ive planned all the lessons and everything but, for the first time, it was different. We had an impromptu lesson with some hermanas and my companion took lead and it made me realize that I need to step back so he can have the opportunity to learn how to teach. I really love my district a lot.  They all have such a great spirit.

There's an Elder Vanzanten here from Logan UT! His dad is very anti now and he had to tell him that he had found the lord and was heading out on a mission. The courage of that guy. He said that I would be one of the few people that could hold a discussion with him in the scriptures. Thank you institute!

Ohh so last week my companion was sick, this week half the district was sick. I'm not exaggerating 4 of the 8 elders were bed ridden and one guy in our zone had to get an IV cause he had lost so many fluids. I have avoided all that though! Score one for the home team!

The dear elder letters have been amazing! Make sure you send your addresses cause I want to try and respond to everyone that wrote me.

My scripture for today would have to be DC 122. 3_8 Sorry but the signs are weird on this computer. It really helps when you might be feeling discouraged or overwhelmed. I really love the spirit that is here in the CCM and on a mission I know that I will have to grow line upon line though which makes it hard for me cause patience isnt my best virtue haha. I just want to be the kind of messenger that it talks about in I think Alma 29 that can speak with the voice of the people (Spanish).

I love you all thank you!
Elder packham
